FEAR OF MISSING OUT An aspect of social media that has seemed to increase the amount of usage of it is the amount of news and current events that are discussed on these apps. “It’s entirely possible for there to be a disconnect between people who aren’t on social media and those who are,” Parent said. “If you’re not on it, you’re missing out on a lot of memes and viral content, so I can imagine for people who aren’t on it, there can be a sense of distance or isolation.”

Mia Craparotta '22, Copy Editor

This year is Mia Craparotta’s ’22 3rd year on Tower staff, and her 2nd year as a copy editor, among many other things she participates in at South. Not only is she a varsity athlete playing field hockey and lacrosse, she’s a member of the Devil’s Den, Student Association, and Key Club. “One of my favorite things about being involved in Tower, sports and other extracurriculars here is that I can spend time at school actually doing fun things other than schoolwork,” Craparotta said. Her contributions to the school and those around her reward Craparotta with the opportunity to make new friends and connect with her peers.
