Softball:
Beginning to prepare for districts and regionals, Varsity softball’s record is a strong 25-6 this season, dominating local teams. Standout games this season include their game at Port Huron Northern, where the teams were tied 4-4 during the seventh inning, until Piper Obermok ’27 scored in the fifth run, leading the team to a 5-4 win. Key players include Madison Iverson ’29, who has had a stellar season with a record of four home runs so far. South just won the MAC blue league championship for the first time since 2015, with the score being a sweep of 20-0 against New Haven.

Sailing:
Competing this spring, South’s Varsity sailing team had an unbelievable season. On May 15, the team travelled to Boston and finished fifth at the National Invitational Tournament. They have had standout performances at various events this year, such as the Baker and Mallory Prequalifiers and the Capitol City Regatta. Next year, Peter Horst ’26 is continuing his sailing career at the University of Miami after being a two-year captain for South, and is currently heading to nationals.

Girls track:
With an ongoing winning season, South’s girls track team continues on its journey to states. After placing second overall in their regional tournament, South continued their tradition of placing in the top two for 38 consecutive championships. As a highlight, Elanor Pilsner ’29 was a triple champion at regionals, and Morgan Duff ’26 beat the school record for long jump with a historic 17 ’10”. Overall, the team is undefeated, going 6-0 and 5-0 in the MAC White.

Girls lacrosse:
With a current winning record of 17-4-2, South’s girls varsity lacrosse team ranks third in the region this season. Next up, they are making their way to regionals. Jordan LeBlanc ’28 is currently the number one goalie in the region, being accepted to play on Michigan’s All-State team, as well as Lyla Hampton ’26, who is continuing on her impressive lacrosse career, competing at the division one level at Eastern Michigan University next year.

Baseball:
South’s baseball team recently won a game at Comerica Park against North, going 5-0 against them this season. The team has won two series and lost three. Along with this, the team placed second in the MAC White conference. Many key players stand out this season, such as Drew Hess ’27, who is leading the team on offense, Jack Denielewicz ’26, who is on pace to break the school career Earned Run Average record, which is 0.61 run average and Dane Lezotte ’26, who is continuing his baseball career next year at Cornell University.
