Students headed to the South football field for this year’s Powderpuff game, put on by the Student Government, on April 18 from 3-5 p.m., continuing the beloved tradition. The game presented two teams: juniors and freshmen competing against sophomores and seniors, creating a friendly but fierce match.
Student Government Chair Helen Haindl ’27 said the event holds an important role beyond simple entertainment.
“Every year, we have Powderpuff to help raise money for the Student Government to be able to fund events like homecoming,” Haindl said. “We also believe it is a great way to unite students, especially between the upperclassmen and underclassmen.”
To prepare for the game, organizers advertised the event on social media and in school, scheduled practices, and took safety measures. Teachers Kendra Caralis and Andrew Taylor refereed the game. The event had a large turnout with players, students, families and friends spending the afternoon together.
“We expected a good number of students to play since it has been a very successful experience in the past year,” Haindl said. “Everyone learns how to play together, including the students, coaches, and referees”.
