As the new season of “Euphoria” begins to release, many people are excited for what’s to come. With Season 2 finishing up in 2022, fans have been waiting for the thrill that the new season may hopefully bring.
Although “Euphoria” is a show that includes challenging topics, it depicts a modern high school. With that, many students at South have resonated with the show throughout their high school years, such as long-time watcher, Anna Vandeputte ’26, who has some hopeful predictions for what the new season may look like.
“I think that Nate and Cassie won’t end up together in the end,” Vandeputte said. “I also think that something may happen to Rue, given her situation at the end of last season, and she may relapse.”
With a time jump for the characters in the show going from high school to after graduation, along with a large distance in time between seasons, it has brought many questions for viewers. Throughout that period of time, many main actors of the cast have passed away, such as Eric Dane, Angus Cloud and executive producer Kevin Turen. Kate Kalmink ’27 reflects on how the losses and time may be affecting this new season.
“I think that the death of some characters will really affect the plot because the storyline now has to be changed a bit,” Kalmink said. “The large timeline between seasons can also affect this season due to the character development.”
As the episodes come out each Sunday, starting April 12, many viewers have ongoing hope for their favorite characters. As people eagerly wait to see how these characters will be doing for themselves outside of college, they have also built up excitement about things they are looking to see. Nicole McEnroe ’28 shares specific things she has been holding on to hope to see.
“I really want for Cassie to break out of being so boy-obsessed and for Maddy to somehow get her revenge in a way,” McEnroe said. “I just really hope nobody dies or the season doesn’t just feel too rushed.”
As the show’s popularity has grown over time, it has attracted many more viewers for the upcoming season. With the many changes this season with timelines, location and even the cast, many original viewers are hoping to still see what they know as Euphoria.
“While watching, I just hope to see the Euphoria’ that I knew before,” Kalmink said. “Even though the cast has faced such loss, I’m hoping they are able to still bring the same spark.”
