Oskar Grand is a staff writer for the Tower, and he is ready for his second year being a part of the Tower staff. One of his favorite things to do for the Tower is to record podcasts, as he finds it to be a really fun and enjoyable outlet.
“I like the Tower because of all the freedoms in it. You can write about what you want,” Grand said. “It’s versatile. You can do podcasts, or I like to go to the event coverages to take pictures and stuff.”
Outside of the Tower, Grand loves to travel. During the summers, he hardly spends any time in Grosse Pointe, normally taking time out of his year travelling to visit family or to go to different and new states. He spends time visiting his relatives, some of them being in Michigan and some of them farther away.
“I just like going places. During the summer time I don’t really stay here,”Grand said.. He also loves listening to music, his favorite genres being hip-hop and R&B.
“I think Tower is so nice to be in because it’s not like, you have to do this and do that. You can write about what you want, and that’s what makes it entertaining,” Grand said.
Nadeem Haurani ’27, a second year staff writer, values the balance between teamwork and individual work in journalism. Outside of the journalistic field, Haurani switches between lacrosse, swimming and football, showcasing his versatility by playing all three sports through South. In the classroom and on the field, he approaches everything with a purpose.
“I’m really passionate about whatever I do, and I do everything for a reason.” Haurani said.
One of the things that Haurani loves about journalism is the creative offers available. “What I love most about journalism is the freedom. You get to write about whatever you’d like. You get to pitch your own story, you get to write it.” Haurani said.
