Italian Club is a language club advised by Italian teacher Ms. Amato. The club meets once a month and has a board of chairs that leads the meetings. The board of chairs consists of Gia Agosta, Morgan Palace, Kaya Muisicki and Maya Mirkazemi.

The meetings once a month are focused on the time of year and the events are specifically based on what holidays or events happen in that month, according to board chair Maria Lianos.

“We plan activities connected to that time of year, including culture of Italian Christmas and New Year, Mardi Gras, going to the DIA and pizza making,” Lianos said.

Due to the monthly meetings, people interested in joining won’t take on a big commitment. Attendance isn’t taken at the meetings and you don’t have to be taking the Italian class to join the club, according to Lianos.

“To become a member of Italian club all anyone has to do is come to one of our meetings and they’re free to come back in any month that works best,” Lianos said.

Lianos loves the events Italian club sponsors such as bocci ball at Ottava Via, making masks for Mardi Gras and watching movies in Italian. The culture of the meetings makes this an enjoyable experience for Lianos.

“Everyone there is extremely inviting and welcoming,”  Lianos said. “We have a lot of fun together at each and every meeting.”
