Learning more about mental health

Do you struggle with you’re mental health? Do you know what can cause a decline in you’re mental state? Co-hosts Kate Dixon ’25 and Mira Haurani ’25 speak with us about problems that affect our mental well-being, that we all don’t necessary know about.

First year staffer, Mira Haurani ’25 has many interests aside from her Tower duties. She’s either in the pool swimming for South’s girls team, on the tennis court playing or off traveling somewhere. Aside from her many activities she’s a part of, Haurani is excited to start her first on Tower as a Web editor. “I’m excited to learn how to actually post (on web), and actually post stories,” Haurani said. She is excited for her upcoming year of writing, editing and posting stories. Aside from her duties as web editor, Haurani is excited to be able to collaborate with other people.

Aside from her job on Tower, first-year staff writer Kate Dixon ’25 is a student athlete and a part of the Varsity Softball team and the Girls Varsity Swim and Dive team, along with being a member of varsity club and student council. “One thing I like about doing extracurriculars is you get to do something fun at school other than the learning and homework,” Dixon said. Doing something she loves while having fun with her friends was a driving force for Dixon in joining The Tower staff. She said she is also excited to have her name in print. “Making a story I am proud of then being able to have my peers read it will definitely make me feel accomplished,” Dixon said.
Morgan Payne ’24
Morgan Payne ’24, Multimedia Manager
Regarding hard work, seconnd-year staffer and Multimedia Manager Morgan Payne ’24 is driven by the word. From working multiple jobs to writing for two newspapers, Payne is diligent, dedicated and disciplined. “I work a lot, I have multiple different jobs, including the Tower which is a big job itself,” Payne said. “If I’m not at school, I’m probably at one organization or being a waiter at Antonio’s in Grosse Pointe Park.” Payne said she loves journalism, not just because her friends are in there because she loves to write. “Journalism has a special meaning to me because its a form of communication,” Payne said. “I’m a big talker and I love to inform, so journalism is right up my alley and is something I am going into for my career.” Outside of Tower, Payne said she likes to write short stories and is a part of different organiztions that empower young women. Payne said she can’t wait for a new year of the Tower and hopes other people will join too. “I would suggest anybody who loves to write, get along with people, get involved with your community to join The Tower,” Payne said. “The Tower has been such a great outlet for me to express myself, so join The Tower if you want that.”
