The boys varsity soccer team suffered their second loss to Grosse Pointe North of the season on October 11 at their home field.  The final score was 4-1 for the Norsemen.

“Everyone tried their hardest, but we messed up,” player Ben Hanenkamp ‘19 said.

The first half began with a North goal thirteen minutes into the game off a throw in.  South player Joey Erickson ‘18 scored the Blue Devils’ only goal twenty minutes into the first half.  The game was tied up by the end of the half.

“There were a few off-side calls and there’s nothing you can do about that sort of thing,” player Ryan Richardson ‘20 said.

North scored three goals during the second half to claim their victory.  According to Hanenkamp, the team has a good core and, while disappointed with the loss, is going to continue optimistically in the final weeks of their season.

“(We’re going to) just keep doing what we’re doing,” Hanenkamp said.

Despite South’s loss, both teams will move on to districts.

“I have no idea what’s going to go down,” Richardson said.  “(We are just going to) to focus on districts right now.”
