FEAR OF MISSING OUT An aspect of social media that has seemed to increase the amount of usage of it is the amount of news and current events that are discussed on these apps. “It’s entirely possible for there to be a disconnect between people who aren’t on social media and those who are,” Parent said. “If you’re not on it, you’re missing out on a lot of memes and viral content, so I can imagine for people who aren’t on it, there can be a sense of distance or isolation.”

Caroline Parent '22, Supervising Page Editor

Caroline Parent '22 is a senior at South this year and the supervising page editor on our staff this year. Parent enjoys the friendly and supportive environment that the Tower provides. She is very involved in extracurriculars such as NHS, orchestra, SA, link crew, and student government. Parent always has a very good time at the deadlines and other activities that involve the Tower.
“It’s a really good way to come in and make new friends as a freshman,” Parent said. Outside of school, she works at TCBY as a supervisor and loves to spend time with the people close to her. Parent is also trying to revamp the french club at South.
