As one of South’s newer clubs, Medical Club has accomplished many things through its guest speakers and opportunities for students interested in Healthcare careers. Throughout the year, members have learned about the medical field and have become more involved in the community. Although this club is still growing, its early accomplishments have already made an impact on students who want to learn more about the healthcare field or pursue a career in medicine in the future.
Members also hope the club will continue to expand its opportunities in the future. Opportunities to engage in more real world medical experiences are especially appealing. Madeline Gates ’28 hopes that she can continue gaining memories and impactful experiences from the Medical Club in the coming years.
“I hope that we do get the opportunity to go to hospitals or connect more with doctors,” Gates said. “Get experience in that environment.”
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become difficult for students to arrange visits to hospitals. President of Medical Club, Jordyn Dearing ’28, has been looking for an opportunity for the club to have a hands-on hospital experience, as she hopes that she will be able to arrange one in the coming years.
“Eventually, I want to make the medical club the experience that some people who didn’t know anything about medicine and go into a medical field can look back on,” Dearing said, “be glad they had that experience in high school.”
Although the club was only established in the past couple of years, its membership growth has been noticeable due to what is described as an inclusive and welcoming environment. It is open to any student interested in pursuing a career in the medical field or simply learning more about medicine. Giuliana Long ’28 joined in the fall of 2025 and has no regrets.
“It has been such a fun experience this school year,” Long said, “I’m so glad that my friends encouraged me to join.”
As the Medical Club continues to grow, its members and leaders hope to create opportunities and experiences for students interested in learning about and exploring the medical field. The possibilities for its future expand as the club hopes to provide students with a better understanding of medicine.
“I’m so grateful that my co-president and I were able to start this club and let it be open to everyone.” Dearing said.
