Millicent Vollmer ’27 devotes a substantial amount of her time working as a lifeguard at Pier Park, playing soccer and taste testing the new Crumbl Cookie flavors of the week. Her strong commitment to playing soccer has always helped Vollmer escape reality and through the sport she found her forever friends. Vollmer has participated in mock trial, which goes about a fake case and argues against other schools. Her attorney position within this club has helped her form new ideas. Outside these interests, Vollmer will be entering her second year on the Tower as an impassioned page editor who fills the atmosphere with much enthusiasm. “I like that you can express your own creativity and not be judged,” Vollmer said. “You can make your own articles, do social media posts. There’s so many opportunities.” Vollmer not only values how hard work pays off, but enjoys learning from others’ inspirational ideas as a journalist. One of her favorite parts about the journalistic world is that there is always something new to learn. “I want to write more stories and to make sure that I am really showcasing all of my skills and spend time on everything that I complete in this class,” Vollmer said.
