NHS collaborated with the Red Cross to host their annual blood drive on Friday, Nov. 7 in South’s Boll Gym, offering both students and staff the opportunity to donate blood between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
NHS volunteers helped organize the event and handed out refreshments to everyone who donated blood. Carla Cavaliere ‘26, one of the blood donors this year, has a universal blood type, so she frequently takes advantage of the opportunity to donate.
“It’s important that hospitals have the supplies that they need,” Cavaliere said. “I hope that with my blood I’ll at least help one person, if not many.”
Cavaliere highlights that hospitals always require a constant supply of blood, as it is essential for various medical needs and has a short shelf life. For this reason, she encourages everyone to donate if they’re able to.
“Everybody should donate blood because being a part of the solution makes your life and those around you happier,” Cavaliere said.
