The mandatory lock-in for the homecoming dance changed from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in previous years to 7:00-8:30 p.m. this year. According to principal Cindy Parravano, the objective of the lock-in is to guarantee to parents and guardians that their student is supervised for a certain amount of time and to maintain consistency with North High School.
“I’ve been here for eight years, and it’s been this way,” Parravano said. “We have ongoing discussions about this, but both high schools need to be on the same page.”
While it may seem like an inconvenience, Parravano emphasizes the other factors that come with attending and encourages students to enjoy their time at the dance and everything that comes with it.
“I understand not wanting to be told you have to be in a place for a certain amount of time,” Parravano said. “But if you want to go to the dance, that’s what it’s about, right?”
