Regarding urgent crime concerns, President Donald Trump has deployed the National Guard to Memphis, Tennessee, at the request of Governor Bill Lee, to restore law and order.
According to FBI data, Memphis has topped the charts as the most dangerous city in America, with Detroit not too far behind in second. With the National Guard now being deployed in Memphis, growing concerns are that Detroit could be next.
Trump says that the deployment to Memphis will follow a similar scheme to what was done in Washington, D.C.
“This task force will be a replica of our extraordinarily successful efforts here,” Trump said to Fox News. “And you’ll see it’s a lot of the same thing, although the numbers here are really something,”
As of now, Detroit hasn’t confirmed any plans to deploy the National Guard, nor do they believe that the National Guard is needed. Mike Duggan, the Mayor of Detroit, has stated many times that there are ongoing efforts to decrease crime in the streets of Detroit.
“We’re going to get the individuals who right now are causing so much pain, and we’re going to get them to make different choices,” Duggan said at a One Detroit conference.
