New to the halls of South, Tony Pacifico is the latest addition to the hall monitor crew. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan he attended a small Catholic school and picked up on a bit of other languages.
“I speak a bit of Italian, Spanish and obviously English, and that’s it in a nutshell,” Pacifo said. “I’m very impressed with the five languages taught here when most schools have three.”
From working in a motor company to De La Salle and then working in a testing laboratory, he’s been enjoying his time at South and being able to work with the other hall monitors.
“South is a big school and at De La Salle, they have some of the assistant coaches doing the hall monitoring but so far, I’m really impressed with this school so far,” Pacifico said.
When he’s not monitoring the halls, Pacifico enjoys spending time doing a lot of reading, listening to music and spending time with his dogs.
“I have two dogs right now, a little dachshund and then my son’s dog who I watch part-time is an Australian husky,” Pacifico said.
Throughout his career, one thing that has remained constant, is his values of integrity and virtue along with his strong passion for the environment and for us all to continue to have empathy for others.
“I think it’s important to continue to have empathy because we’re starting to lose it,” Pacifico said. “I value doing the right thing instead of just doing what’s popular and you know, doing the right thing seems to be going farther away.”
With excitement for the experience and community that comes with the football games, Pacifico is looking forward to the Friday night lights next season and is eager to cheer them on. Another thing to look forward to is getting to know the community of the school and the people involved.
“I went to some of the De La Selle games and my son played college football so I had a great time with that,” Pacifico said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know some more of the people where I can call them on a one-on-one basis.”
