The girl’s varsity softball team crushed the competition at North this Monday with a final score of 15-8. Fans filled the bleachers with laughter and excitement, enjoying the warm weather while remaining cool due to a slight breeze. The hot sun and South’s relentless skills intensified with each hit. Murphy Russell ’25 has had an excellent season so far, securing the win Monday when North’s starting pitcher surrendered 13 hits and eight runs over seven innings.
“I had a lot of confidence in myself and my team as well,” Russell said. “North has been a very successful team for years, but this is our year.”
The team’s winning streak continues, as this will be their eighth straight victory, with many more on the way. Vivi Ostrowski ’26, Avery Bellish ’25, Alex Lupo ’25, Mackenzie Simon ’26 and Addie Waller ’24 totaled 18 hits against North. Russell pitched, taking down any chance for North to make a comeback with the defensive help of Luna Agosta ’25, Avery Harris 24’ and Lucy Gabel ’25.
“I felt the team performed very well throughout the whole game; there wasn’t a time where we let down; the energy was high from start to finish,” Russell said. “We all stepped up and helped each other out.”
The girls’ varsity softball team has an impressive record of 22 wins and four losses this season so far.
“My coaches, teammates and family all motivate me to succeed during the season,” Russell said. “Before I step on the field, I always think positively and focus on what I need to do to win.”
