Streaming your music with Spotify over Apple Music

Sara Dimitrijevic ’25

The streaming experience offered by Spotify is superior to what Apple Music offers. For instance, Spotify offers cheaper prices for a music streaming service than Apple Music. According to Radioactive Media, Apple Music costs $10.99 per month while Spotify’s costs are $9.99 per month. Although not a significant difference, it still shifts the price at which you have to pay at the end of the year.

Not only are prices cheaper, but Spotify recommends new music that has a similar music that you are already listening to. Spotify even makes playlists for you that include all varieties of your favorite music. Additionally, because of the streaming service that is offered from Spotify, not only can you use spotify from your phone but you can also use it on different devices. For instance, on Spotify, you can use one device to control music playing on another device thanks to Spotify Connect, which also enables you to seamlessly hand off audio from one device to another.

In addition to this, Spotify also offers various podcasts ranging from categories to discussions on mental health, celebrity interviews, sports and more. It even offers podcasts and music to help you study or sleep. Digital Trends even mentions, “Spotify currently boasts the most podcasts of any service, offering 5 million as of 2022’s fourth quarter.”

With more podcasts to come in 2024, Spotify is an ideal streaming platform that doesn’t only offer music, but many educational and relaxing podcasts and audios for streaming. If you’re using Apple music, it would be smart to consider trying out Spotify for all the different music and audio’s they have to offer. According to Statista, Spotify actually gained more streams for the app than Apple Music. “30.5 percent of music streaming subscribers worldwide had a subscription with Spotify,” they explained, which was “almost double the share who were subscribed to Apple Music.”
