An outstanding ski destination

During the winter months, it’s important to select a spot to vacation, and if you are interested in skiing, Otsego is the ideal location. A mile from downtown Gaylord and three miles from Gaylord Regional Airport, it’s a luxury golf course in the summer and a stunning ski resort in the winter.

The Otsego Ski Club has a cabin and lodge rooms, as well as condo rentals. Equipped with two ski courses, ski lifts and slopes, snowshoe and cross-country ski routes, snow tubing and equipment rentals. Ski lifts are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., leaving plenty of time to do exciting activities in between skiing. Day passes are $65 and a full season pass is $500 for those who plan on visiting frequently. It’s the ideal place to ski with old friends or create new ones.

Skier Grace Becker visited Otsego for a fun ski trip with her cousins.“I’ve never been here before,” Becker said. “It is interesting getting to explore with my family.”
There are plenty of slopes to ski, Becker shared her favorite places on the mountain.

“My favorite area to ski is the hill next to the lodge,” Becker said. “I love the long lift just near The River Cabin.”

There are plenty of excellent restaurants in the Otsego area, The River Cabin is an ideal option because it is located on the course.

“We have been eating lunch at the River Cabin every day because we are always here,” Becker said. “And going out for dinner in the town.”
A family vacation is a fantastic chance to spend quality time together and engage in enjoyable activities like skiing.

“Being here with my cousins has been quite memorable,” Becker said. “We get to catch up, bond, and enjoy skiing here together.”
Local Lily Foryder skis here whenever she can with her friends.

“We live about five minutes from here,” Foryder said. “So we have the season pass and come all the time.”

A perfect place to purchase ski equipment is White Birch Outfitters, located on Main St., Gaylord MI.

“I bought most of my stuff from there,” Foryder said. “They carry a lot of necessities.”

Foryder feels that having music is one thing you need to ski. She shares her ideal method for listening to her music carefree.

“Bring earbuds with cords,” Foryder said. “I lost an AirPod last year.”

Foryder explains her strong love for Otsego, the beauty of up north is visible in the winter months when it’s time to hit the slopes.

“We meet new people, have fun with friends and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while skiing,” Foryder said. “People up north are extremely friendly.”
