Soaking up summer with events you can do

Michigan is the perfect place to keep it fresh and create a summer full of interesting activities that you might not even know about. Long summer days, freshwater lakes like oceans and outdoor adventures galore make it perfect for activities in the summer. There are events in Grosse Pointe, Detroit, trips to Mackinac Island and many more.

Some events to look forward to in Grosse Pointe are in the Great Lakes Boating Festival, occurring on May 20 and 21 on Saturday from Noon–7 pm and Sunday from Noon–5 pm. The event will take place at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. Some activities to expect include a spring in-water show featuring boats up to 80 feet, boat show with marine products and services, steel drum entertainment, stand-up paddle board demos and an art show.

Not only does Grosse Pointe include leisurely activities, but Detroit does as well. The Electronic Music Festival Movement is held in downtown Detroit in Hart Plaza. The festival takes place over Memorial Day weekend. The first day of the 2023 festival is Saturday, May 27, and the last day of the festival is Monday, May 29. The event is an annual electronic dance music event held in the birthplace of techno, Detroit. You can expect a big concert with techno music.

If you are looking to get out of Grosse Pointe, Mackinac Island is the ideal vacation spot. I look forward to touring the island and horseback riding as well as riding in a carriage, bike riding, viewing historical monuments and even staying on the island. There’s unique shopping, diverse dining and extraordinary nightlife.
