Jennifer Flanagan, a Grosse Pointe South Alumni and current high school art teacher, has published three books about different types of art projects for kids.
“(I got interested in art projects) through the Scholastic Book Club in elementary school, where you’d get those little Scholastic books partnered with Crayola items,” Flanagan said.
Writing and creating art is a great way to reduce stress according to Flanagan. She said making art is always fun with supplies and sometimes instructions to follow. Inspired by this love for art, Flanagan’s favorite book that she wrote was Fun with Gel Markers.
“It was my favorite because the kids could show their creativity, and I love when I see kids being creative and proud of their own work,” Flanagan said.
