Looking for the perfect place to sit down and indulge in comfort food? Cork and Gabel is the experience for this.

It is right in the heart of Corktown, which is a great location. What I really appreciated was the free parking, which is extremely to find in the downtown area. The staff was very polite and knowledgeable of the menu. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, and the decor and rustic style of the restaurant was pleasing to the eye.

For dinner, I ordered the short rib, which was recommended by the waitress. It came out really quickly, but it might have just been because it was a slow day for them. The short rib itself was cooked perfectly and had very tasteful sides to go with it. It came with sauteed vegetables and gnocchi, which went perfectly with the dish. The only complaint I have here was how expensive it was, . It definitely wouldn’t be ideal for a high schooler to be going out to dinner here because their menu is priced a little higher. However,I will say you are paying for very high-quality food.

I would definitely eat here again sometime soon with friends or family. If my family wanted to go a quick, easy restaurant with comfort food, this is the place I would recommend. I would give this eatery a 5 out of 5 stars because nothing struck me negatively towards this restaurant. It had its own unique decor that brought coziness to the atmosphere; allowing it to feel comfortable inside. The food was very flavorful, and they didn’t have me waiting a long time for my dinner.

Location is everything here in Corktown and they nailed it spot on here, it’s close to Michigan Central Station. In my opinion, this place would be a family eating area, since there is a bar and the prices were a little expensive for the average teenager. Other than that, Cork and Gabel is definitely a must-try in the downtown Detroit area!
