Sweet Lorraine’s Fabulous Mac and Brewz should be a new favorite.
Located in Midtown, near Wayne State University, it is a bit of a hike from Grosse Pointe, but it is well worth it.

The inside of the restaurant is clean and trendy, with exposed beams and wood counters. Large couches sit at one end.  It gives off a ‘50s-esque vibe from the squishy baby blue chairs to the black and white murals covering the walls top to bottom.

The ordering process was fairly easy, thanks to the helpful staff.  There was barely a line because of how quickly the staff was able to get through customers.

To order, customers choose from a different array of mac and cheeses posted on large boards above the counter and can add in toppings from a tiny toppings bar located behind the counter.

Then the mac and cheese is baked right there, in front of the customer.  The process is quick and leaves a layer of gooey, melted cheese on top. This step is what puts Mac and Brewz ahead of other restaurants that sell similar dishes.
Mac and Brewz also offer grilled cheeses, wraps, soups and salads, which are worth noting.

The grilled cheese was delicious, leaving long strings of cheese as it stretched after each bite.  The soups are perfect for cold, winter days.

Truthfully the wraps were nothing shocking and pretty average as far as a wrap goes, but I am not someone who typically orders and enjoys a wrap.

I would definitely recommend Mac and Brewz to anyone who likes to eat in the restaurants opening up in Detroit, and is also willing to take the drive.
