The boys tennis team qualified for states with 19 points and had two teams win their regional flight, captain Nick Costakis’16 said.
“The tournament we played in was a big preparation and we just practice everyday after school.” Costakis said about how the team will prepare for states. “ A lot of match play was really helpful.”
“A bunch of our teams went in intense matches at regionals against some tough teams and it’s a tough region to make it to states and we have done really well this year,” Costakis said.
The team has invested a lot of time into preparing for the state tournament and has been working hard as a team, Teddy Sweeney ‘18 said.
The team finished 8th overall at states on Friday.
“We had a bunch of teams win their first round matches to make it to the quarter-finals.” Costakis said.
Costakis and his doubles partner John Sullivan were able to advance to the semifinals.
“I think next season will go really well because there’s a lot of young talent and we did a lot better than I expected this year,” Costakis said.
