[dropcap type=”3″]H[/dropcap]olding a four-year winning streak against Grosse Pointe North, the varsity football team hopes to come out on top once again at tomorrow’s game.

At this point in the season, the teams are tied up with two wins and two losses each. Though these records are unable to determine how the game will play out, head coach Tim Brandon said.

[pull_quote_center]“Records and the past are all thrown out the window in a game like this,” Brandon said. “It will be a very hard-fought, competitive game. We will do our very best to win and let the cards fall where they may.”[/pull_quote_center]

Because of the crosstown rivalry, the players are all excited, Brandon said.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to continue to claim the victory over North,” said captain Phil Dakin ’15.

Whichever team enters the field with more focus, determination and drive will be the team to win, Dakin said. Whoever wins, the team will deserve it.

“It will be the team that eliminates mistakes and that capitalizes on the opponents mistakes that will win,” said Brandon.

A win tomorrow would further help the team with their goal of making it to the playoffs this year, Brandon said.

South is hosting the game tomorrow at 7 p.m. Preceding kick-off, the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the community wide North vs. South tailgate on the front lawn of South beginning at 5 p.m.
