Varsity softball looks forward to improving standings this season

By Christy Ford ’15 | Staff Writer

With eight returning veterans and four spots to fill, varsity softball has high expectations for the upcoming season.

Everyone will have to help out and  work together in order for the team to be successful, Head Coach Bill Fleming said.

“Softball is a real team sport so I think everyone will play an important role,” said Fleming. .

The team’s goals are to beat Grosse Pointe North, win the league title, and make Academic All-State standings. In order to make Academic All-State the team must have an accumulative G.P.A  of 3.6.

Returning varsity member Katie Kish ’15 has a positive outlook on the season.

“I’m just going to do my best to motivate my teammates and build everyone’s confidence to help us succeed,” said Kish.” I believe we can win regionals.”

This is Fleming’s first year as varsity coach, but he has coached for 20 years.

Last year the team was not as successful as they had hoped, Kish said.

“ There was just something missing last year, but it is definitely being filed by coach fleming,” said Kish.

The first game is against Fraser High School on March 27 at Fraser.
