In a low scoring game, the boys varsity hockey team defeated Detroit Country Day 2-0 on Saturday, Feb. 1.

“This was a great game,” said Head Coach Bobby McKillop. “We got up on a early goal and were able to weather the storm through the penalties we had to kill off.”

South got up to an early 1-0 lead with a goal by Casey Livingston ’14 midway through the first quarter.

The game remained 1-0 until Kenny Cervone ’14 returned the puck to the back of the net in the 3rd period.

“The boys saw good shots and took them,” said McKillop. “We outplayed them until the end.”

Andrew Wright ’14 earned the shutout in net.

“We had strong defense” said McKillop. “The boys worked really hard and played a good game.”

The team will play Divine Child on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at City Ice Arena.
