Boys Basketball surges past Clawson, 56-40

By Jack Weaver ’15 | Staff Writer

Boys basketball continued its seven game win streak with a victory over Clawson, 56-40 on Tuesday night.

Last season, the team won a total of just five games, and on Tuesday night they extended their record to 7-1.

From the opening tip-off, South dominated on defense and maintained a steady lead throughout the first half. By the time halftime rolled around, South held a 34-22 lead at the break.

“We come out pretty strong in the 2nd half, and maintained a solid lead for the rest of the game,” said Dallian Burnett ’15.

Once the second half resumed, it was all South. They continued to play lockdown defense and were able to get a lot of their points off easy fast break opportunities.

Upon entering the fourth quarter, South had solidified their lead and were able to rest their starters for most of the final quarter.

As time expired, South would walk away with a convincing victory.

“I think we did what we needed to do to grind out another win,” said Charlie Warren ’14. “It feels great, especially after last year’s struggles, and we still have yet to play our best basketball.”

South will look to add on to their seven game win streak when they take on Madison Heights on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
