SA to hold spirit day event tomorrow

By Archer Hauck ’14

In a last minute decision, Student Association will hold a spirit day tomorrow to commend all of the extracurricular activities in which South students participate, SA Vice President Emily Richner ’14 said.

“We just decided last night (Wednesday) that it would be a fun idea,” said Richner.

Since SA represents all students at the school, Adviser Laura Distelrath said they wanted to support the non-athletic activities in addition to the athletic teams.

“We do a lot for Homecoming which is centered on athletics, but the clubs, choir, and orchestra work hard so we wanted to celebrate them too,” said Distelrath.

SA President Daniel Harris ’14 came up with the idea, Richner said. It was a short notice, but the rest of SA jumped on the idea right away.

There will be a raffle for $15 gift cards to stores in the village, Richner said. To enter, students must go to one of the SA tables at either lunch tomorrow wearing blue and gold and write their name on a slip.

The idea is to add emphasis on school unity not just during Homecoming week, Richner said.

“We want to bring the entire school together,” said Richner. “Wear blue and gold tomorrow.”
