The Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) are sponsoring a school dodgeball tournament held in the main gym on Saturday, Dec. 15. Half of the  proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Foundation and the other half towards building a memorial for South Alumni who have served,  according to YAF member Drake Lyon’ 14.

The Wounded Warrior Foundation is a charity that helps veterans who have lost limbs, or suffered any other damage from their service. The YAF club is looking to take a bigger stance on pro-military projects this year, said YAF President Langston Bowens ’13.

The tournament is composed of 16 teams, each team requires six members and the signup fee for the whole team is $25. Sign up is available in the Student Activities room or the main office. The signup is deadline is Friday, Dec. 14.

“The financial gains are not the primary concern; the primary concern is to raise awareness for this foundation (Wounded Warrior Foundation) and raise awareness for veterans,” said Bowens.

The Village Toy has matched one team’s donation fee of $25. YAF is still waiting to hear back from other local businesses to contribute to the fundraiser.
