For students with no idea what their plans are after graduation, last night there was a chance to visit over a hundred colleges in one place at Wednesday’s 33rd annual College Night.
“College night presented me with an opportunity to compare several schools side to side,” said Maggie Rapai ’14.
Representatives from about 150 colleges and universities set up tables in South’s main and girls’ gymnasiums.
“The representatives provided an idea of what certain colleges were like and compared them to others, which was helpful,” said Aidan Hubbell ’15.
Several Michigan schools were there, as well as Colleges and Universities all around the country, Rapai said.
“I was introduced to schools I would have never discovered on my own,” said Rapai.
This event was open to all students from Grosse Pointe South and North, but especially benefited juniors and seniors.
“I went to College Night because I had no idea where I wanted to go or what I wanted to do after high school,” said Amanda Shrader ’14. “By talking to representatives, I was able to see what schools were available to me.”
If students missed this opportunity, they can find additional resources at the CRC, located in the library, Teresa Bennett, Director of the Career Resource Center said.
In addition to College Night, representatives from several other universities will be visiting South throughout the school year, Bennett said. Students can receive a pass to meet with these representatives from the counseling center.
If students were unable to attend, they “can always call a school and do a tour on their own.” said Bennett.
