Interact hosts book drive for Wolverine Human Services

MADI DETTLINGER ’13 | Staff Writer

The Interact Service Club is holding a book drive to benefit the Wolverine Human Services, said Milena Lai ’13, club secretary.

Wolverine Human Services is a non-profit organization that aims to assist children who are struggling at home or are involved in delinquent activities, according to their website. Their goal is to help these children overcome social and economic barriers.

“It helps provide assistance and guidance to teens going through a hard time like abuse or neglect,” said Lai.

The organization has a variety of services, including adoption and foster care, treatment centers, and independent living services. Most of their locations are centered in Detroit.

“I think it (the book drive) is a good cause for kids who aren’t fortunate enough to have books to read,” said Max Mager ’13. “People are doing a lot to make it successful.”

Interact will be collecting new or gently used books through Friday, May 11th in English classes in large brown boxes. The class that collects the most books will receive a prize.
