Administration cracks down on Senior Spirit Day

Administration+cracks+down+on+Senior+Spirit+Day

By Will Boyce ’15 | Staff Writer

On the senior class spirit day,  Thursday September 26 , Assistant Principal Terry Flint came over the PA to ask the seniors to not cheer during the school day. He stressed that cheering was for before and after school only. He went on to say that the seniors were disturbing the learning environment and behaving inappropriately.

“I think that they were warranted in that yes, academics do come first, unfortunately, the actions of few are affecting the many,” said Senior Class Advisor  Carrie Haliburton. “Certain individuals pushed things too far earlier this week so that now we really have to reign things back in.”

The seniors crossed the line as soon as school started, Flint said.

“I just think they have taken things too far, at some point we lost the focus that school is  a learning environment, not a party environment,” said Flint.

Flint went on to say that the seniors’ actions have pushed him to the point where he now wants to meet with the administration to develop stricter expectations going forward.

“All the excessive hooping and hollering and noise (they’re) making here does not happen here,” said Flint. “This is a school.”

Flint explained that the seniors went to a different level this year, with grease on the floor, and dumping water around the school.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Flint. “And I’m not having it.”

This is crazy. Every single year seniors have been loud and “disturbed the learning envoriment” The average senior works very hard to get into a top notch college and score high on the AP test which the adminstration loves to brag about on the website then when certain people try and have fun one day of the year seniors are made to seem like animals. And I’m not having it.
