Held in the Multipurpose room on Saturday Sept. 22, the Grosse Pointe South Choir Boosters hosted the 4th annual Choir Garage Sale.

Eager to get a great deal on everything from books to bicycles, people came early to start rummaging through the vast amount of goods, said veteran garage sale worker and choir mom Kristi Zimmeth.

“There were probably 40 people waiting outside the door when we opened,” said Zimmeth during the event. “It’s been pretty busy.”

Attracting a large group of bargain hunters throughout the Grosse Pointe area, the annual Garage Sale is an important fundraiser for choir.

“This is one of our biggest fundraisers,” said Zimmeth. “Proceeds go to education within choir and for a variety of choir programs, including scholarships.”

The variety of items for sale changes every year because it’s all based on donations from people within choir, Zimmeth said.

“Every year it changes. It’s always different,” said Zimmeth. “That’s actually what makes it good as a buyer, because there’s always something for everyone.”

With thousands of items for sale, the time consuming garage sale doesn’t happen without a lot of work, and a lot of time, Robbie Triano ’14 said.

“Our choir does have multiple fundraising opportunities, including two car washes and Blue Books,” said Triano. “Out of all the fundraisers, this is the most work oriented of them.”

The 4th annual Garage Sale will not be the last, Zimmeth said.

“As long as people have stuff to donate,” said Zimmeth. “We’ll keep having a garage sale.”
