Top 10 best beauty products for summer

Top+10+best+beauty+products+for+summer

By Madeleine Glasser ’17 | Staff Writer

Let me just clarify something first; I am NOT a beauty expert at all, so take this list with a grain of salt. I’ve tried a lot of products and these are the best, and lots of other people agree with me. Go look at the reviews on Sephora if you don’t believe me.

  1. Benefit Cosmetics- The POREfessional Face Primer ($31 at Sephora): I have oily-ish skin, but it gets worse in the summer, as I’d assume it did for every other human on the planet because it gets warmer, and that means more sweat, which means more oil. Anyway, I’ve tried like a gazillion primers and this one is the best, I swear by it. It keeps your face looking matte all day, and it drastically reduces the size of pores. It’s amazing.
  1. Sephora Collection- Mud Mask Purifying and Mattifying ($20 at Sephora): I love this mask because it actually works. A lot of times, masks don’t do anything, but this one makes a huge difference, almost immediately. Some masks can cost a lot of money, and this one is only 20 dollars!!! The mask helps eliminate blemishes and reduce oil. It’s great for just simple impurities too.
  1. Too Faced- Natural Eye Neutral Eye Palette ($36 at Sephora): This palette is fantastic. It has such an array of colors and finishes in a small, nine-shade palette. It’s warm-toned with all natural shades (hence the name). The shadows last all day, and they’re super easy to use. They’re not too heavy, which makes them perfect for summer.
  1. Colourpop- Super Shock Shadow ($4.99 at colouropo.com): These shadows are some of the best. They’re super pigmented, and there’s a bajillion colors too, which is perfect for summer. They last all day, and stay in place, a must for summer shadows. You don’t want your shadow sliding off your eyes when you’re out and about. And they’re only $5!
  1. Chanel- Le Volume de Chanel Mascara ($32 at chanel.com): I know this is super pretentious and annoying to recommend Chanel mascara but it’s 110% worth the money. It comes in three colors; black, dark blue and brown. I’ve only used black, and it’s glorious. It makes your lashes look long and full, but the brush separates every lash, so they don’t look clumpy. I love it so much, and you can justify the outrageous prices because you get two samples with every order!
  1. Urban Outfitters Nail Polish ($5 at Urban Outfitters): Okay, I know that you’re probably thinking what is she thinking, but hear me out, Urban Outfitters nail polish is amazing. It comes in a ton of different colors and finishes, and it lasts a really long time. Not to mention, it’s cheaper than a lot of drugstore nail polishes. The formula is great, the polish is thin, in a good way, you need two coats, but that means that it applies really easily, and it doesn’t take 10,000 years to dry, like thinker, more gel-like polishes do. Urban Outfitters has some really cute new colors that are perfect for summer.
  1. Trader Joe’s Cleanser and Makeup Remover Wipes ($4 at Trader Joe’s): You can find makeup remover wipes anywhere, but the trick is finding ones that actually work. After a long day of doing whatever this summer, the last thing you want to do is have to wash your face before bed (I mean maybe you have to, but it’s annoying sometimes). These wipes from Trader Joe’s remove all makeup and cleanse your face in the process, and they’re only $4. The best part is that they don’t animal test!
  1. Too Faced Shadow Insurance ($20 at Sephora): I’ve mentioned a few shadows that I really like, but to be totally honest, eyeshadow isn’t worth it to me anymore unless I’ve put some of this Too Faced Shadow Insurance on my lids first. It keeps my eyeshadow in place all day and night, without any creasing, it’s incredible. In the summer, when you’re out and about, you’re probably going to be sweating (get over yourself, everyone sweats), the chances of your shadow coming off are increased, this shadow primer is a must.
  1. Clinique Superpower Double Face Makeup ($24 at Clinique): This long wearing full-coverage powder is a necessity in any makeup bag. It’s a foundation and powder at the same time, which means it’ll cover up almost anything, but without being too heavy. It feels light and airy, but with the coverage of a liquid foundation. It also stays put the entire day, so there’s no need to reapply throughout the day, it’s great.
  1. Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick ($21 at Sephora): This is the number one beauty product for summer, or ever, for that matter. It’s long-wearing, it’s super pigmented, it’s comfortable and the packaging is really cute. There are so many great colors, from light nudes to dark purples. There’s both metallic and classic finishes, and there’s a liquid matte lipstick also. This is by far my favorite beauty product, there’s not a single flaw, it’s perfect.

Once again, I’m not a beauty expert by any means, but I know what’s good and what’s bad, and I’d recommend any one of these products, they’re worth the try, give them a shot!
