On Wednesday, May 23 the Lady Blue Devil soccer team fell to North 3-2.

Going into the game, the girls knew they would have to battle the intensity, the terrible weather, and not having their coach, said injured player DeeDee Burns ’14.

During the girls previous game against Country Day, head coach Gene Harkins received a red card because he got into an argument with the referee over a call, said Burns.

“Going into the game I was really nervous about the weather, but when you are against North you just got to push through it and not let it phase you,” said Cydney Webb ’15.

Webb and Elizabeth Clevenger ’13 scored the two goals for South.

South started strong with their first goal by Webb, leaving the score 1-0.  Eventually, North came back with three goals, to take a 3-1 lead.

Clevenger’s goal went in the final few minutes of game, which led to their final score of 3-2.

“This isn’t the last time that North is going to see us,” said Olivia Withers ’14 making a reference to districts.

The girls continue their season by beginning Districts on their home turf against Cuisino next Tuesday, May 28.
