Following the opt-in assembly today, Senator Rick Santorum will be presenting another speech open to members of the community at 3:30 p.m. in South’s main gym, Principal Dr. Matt Outlaw said.
After voices came forward at the school board meeting last Monday night, district officials tried to figure out a way to give community members and Grosse Pointe North High School students an opportunity to hear Santorum speak, Superintendent Dr. Tom Harwood said.
In a recent press release from Harwood, it states that parking will not be permitted on school grounds until after students egress. The only parking available will be in the S-lot off of the Boulevard and parents and community members are asked not to arrive until 3:15 to give students time to leave the property.
“I think that it is now to a point where it should be a good dialogue that will occur between Mr. Santorum and our students at South high school (and the community), and we hope that it is a good and positive eventful day,” said Harwood.
This extended event does not require a ticket and is open to all members in the community.
