The Girls hockey team’s playoff run ended in the state finals on Saturday, March 9, after allowing Cranbrook to start off the game with intensity and maintain control until the end of the third period, resulting in 3-2 overtime loss.

Cranbrook scored the first goal of the game giving them an early lead. Shortly after, with great offense, Junior Tenley Shield ’14 tied the game late in the first period. Cranbrook scored a quick goal in the second period, to give them the lead 2-1, which they held until the end of the third period. Megan Pollack ’13 scored a power play goal with less than four minutes to go to tie the game and force overtime.

After a defensively strong overtime period, Cranbrook found the back of the net, ending the Blue Devil’s season 3-2.

Finishing with a stellar season, the girls completed another state championship run, onlyto lose in the finals. Although the team loses eight seniors next year, the talents of the underclassmen will hopefully bring the Blue Devils to another run at the State Finals, Lindsey Makos ’13 said.

“I wish we could have ended the season with a State Championship win, but we did way better than expected and I’m proud of my teammates for all that we accomplished,” said Makos.
