Julia Roeder ’25, Page Editor

Sitting in front of the television, utterly transfixed by whatever snappy Today news segment she was supposed to be treating as white noise, 8-year-old Julia Roeder ’25 knew a future in journalism was inevitable.
Now in her first year on staff as a page editor, Roeder credits her family with setting her down the Tower path.
“My parents always had the news on growing up,” Roeder said. “ They’ve always been so passionate about politics and local elections, and it really fuels me.”
Though Roeder has taken her family’s enthusiasm to heart, she’s more interested in artists than candidates. This year, Roeder hopes to give South students an earful of her playlist, loaded with favorites by Taylor Swift, Harry Styles and Tyler the Creator.
“I’m really excited to write music reviews,” Roeder said. “Everyone loves a good song-- you can never go wrong.”
