Cindy Parravano, who took over as South’s interim principal following Moussa Hamka’s promotion to Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources in January 2025, has now been hired to the position permanently by the Grosse Pointe Public School System Board of Education meeting.
Parravano was hired in a 7-0 vote by the BOE during the Monday, April 14 Board of Education meeting.
“We’re really to have her [Parravano] as a leader at South.” Board President Colleen Worden said at the April 14 BOE meeting. “She’s exactly what we need in leadership at Grosse Pointe South.”
Parravano served as one of South’s Assistant Principals for over seven years, and has over 20 years of experience in secondary education. Parravano and her respected GPPSS experience are both backed heavily by her employees, including South math teacher Elizabeth Bornoty.
“We’re not just choosing a leader for South,” Bornoty said at the April 14 BOE meeting. “We are continuing with somebody who already believes in this school community and has proven she can lead it forward.”
