First-year staffer Riley Burgess ’26 spends her time participating in a variety of sports. Outside of school, she is an active hockey player and has been playing since the end of seventh grade. Before hockey, she was a figure skater but later decided to take up hockey.

“I like being active, and there aren’t many other things that I’m interested in doing,” Burgess said. “I love the team aspect of sports, mainly because I’ve never had that environment growing up, and it allowed me to branch out a lot.”

On staff, Burgess spends her time writing stories, designing pages, and having fun.

“I really like designing things; that’s why I decided to become a page editor,” Burgess said. “I also really enjoy writing, and being a journalist explores different styles of writing that I’m not used to. I’m excited to be a part of Tower and I’m looking forward to what I can do here.”
