Recently on social media there have been a lot of posts centered around preparing for spring break. New things are trending for gut health and anti-bloating. Many people have been influenced by coconut cult, sea moss and celery juice. Which are products that help you achieve that “spring break body.”
Many girls who are going on the senior spring break trip are doing things to prepare themselves for this trip. Elaina Cracchiolo ’25 has found herself being influenced by some of these trends and what she sees on social media.
“I don’t feel like the need to change anything drastically about my diet leading up to spring break. I already eat pretty healthy, but I know that a lot of people around me are talking about diets they are doing leading up to spring break,” Cracchiolo said.
For many it’s more about being confident in yourself. Considering girls have to be in a swimsuit all day, and be on the beach and a boat, no one wants to be worrying about how they look.
“There is not a specific way that I want to look but I want to feel as confident as possible since I’m going to be wearing a lot of fun outfits,” Cracchiolo said. “I want to feel comfortable in my outfits since there are going to be a lot of photos taken.”
Many people have started going to the gym just to feel good about themselves in a swimsuit. Charlotte Messacar ’25 has been going to the gym to feel productive and have daily activity, but she has not let social media or anyone else sway how she feels about working out and eating.
“I don’t think I need to change anything about my diet because I feel like I have a pretty balanced diet and sometimes I just need a sweet treat,” Messacar said. “I know that I would not be able to stick to a diet so I don’t try to change anything.”
Many people are worried about their bodies because many people from the senior class will be there. Messacar, on the other hand, has a different opinion than most on working out and eating.
“I don’t think anyone needs to look a certain way, everyone’s bodies are different and it’s supposed to be a vacation,” Messacar said. “It’s only a week long and you should not be focusing on how you look. I do want to be in shape for spring break, but I am not going to change anything about my diet.”
Having a healthier lifestyle and clean eating has been very popular on social media. Lilly Irby ’25 has found herself trying some of these things she has seen on social media.
“I haven’t changed anything about my diet drastically, but I have tried to eat more clean foods,” Irby said. “I think there is some pressure from social media to be very fit and healthy, but I don’t feel the need to change anything about my body.”
