As the season starts up again, the Grosse Pointe South Softball program continues its tradition of the softball clinic. Put on by the coaches and players and taking place on March 15, the clinic allows for softball players grades K-8 to gain confidence and improve their skills from an older mentor. Softball player Kate Kalmink ’27 expresses the enjoyment and experience that the event gives her.
“I love getting to meet all the little kids and teaching them the basics of softball,” Kalmink said. “Being able to be a mentor and leader while showing my skills is a great feeling to have.”
Not only is the clinic a great way for South players to connect with and teach future Blue Devils, it also allows for a great learning experience for the attendees. The young players get to learn how to be the best softball players they can be and the South students learn ways to coach and be a leader. This tradition taken on by the softball program is one to continue.
