President Donald Trump made history once again, being the second president ever to serve a non-consecutive term as President of the United States. While Trump’s first term was colored by sporadic, haphazard and unplanned policy, his most recent go of things has been strife with unconstitutional, inflammatory policies that I wholeheartedly believe will spell the end for the United States.
In 2022, Donald Trump praised a far-right think tank known as the Heritage Foundation, citing that the foundation was “going to lay the groundwork and detailed plans for exactly what our movement will do.” A year later, the foundation published a 920-page detailed plan known as “Project 2025”. Entitled in the document are downright frightening policies, including a president’s sole control of the executive branch, allowing the hiring or firing of federal employees in accordance with their political allegiance.
For the entirety of his campaign, President Trump repeatedly and blatantly lied, claiming he had “nothing to do with Project 2025.” However, as Trump has now become President, nearly every one of his executive orders and policies have been in line with the Heritage Foundation’s plan.
In the first week of his presidency, Trump rescinded Lyndon B. Johnson’s 1965 executive order prohibiting federal job discrimination, withdrew the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO), called for federal forces to forcibly detain and deport both illegal and legal immigrants, invested $500 billion in Open AI, prohibited gender transition until the age of 19, banned transgender people from the military, established the US recognizes “only two sexes”, renamed the Gulf of Mexico and Denali mountain to the “Gulf of America” and “Mt. McKinley” respectively, among a slew of other orders.
Among Trump’s worrying executive orders is his federal budgetary order that aims to reduce Medicare and Medicaid coverage, social security, food stamp availability and eliminate federal student loans. To accomplish this goal, President Trump has frozen federal spending until his budgetary plan is approved. This alone is categorically unconstitutional, as the president has zero authority to regulate the federal budget, as the responsibility falls solely upon Congress.
Donald Trump campaigned on being a “champion of the working class,” yet time and time again he has proven his policies only suit the rich, white, non-minorities of this country. At his inauguration, the entire front row was filled with the richest men in the world, who collectively own more wealth than the entirety of the middle and lower classes of the country. Under President Trump’s proposed tax plan, all but the top 10 percent of the country receives a raise in taxes, whilst the top 10 percent receives an even lower tax rate.
Every one of Trump’s policies has been grossly inflammatory, overtly disgusting and will serve to spell the detriment of the American people.
Buckle up, we’re in for a long 4 years.
