Even though Dirty Dough has been around for many years now, its popularity has grown this year across social media platforms. Many creators on TikTok or Instagram have been comparing Dirty Dough to Crumbl Cookie because of their similarities. Although there is only one location in Michigan so far, in Chesterfield, it was not busy at all. The atmosphere of Dirty Dough and Crumbl were very similar, with bright lighting and colorful aspects. Every week, Dirty Dough alternates three or four stuffed cookies that are a part of their weekly lineup. This week, it was Fried Ice Cream, Snickerdoodle and Party Animal. Also, they have four stuffed cookies that are consistent on every menu which are Stuffed Chocolate Chip, Brookie and the Reverse and Cookies and Cream. I only got four cookies to try because their boxes are on the pricier side.
The first two cookies I tried were a part of the permanent menu, Brookie and Cookies and Cream. The Brookie was stuffed with a gooey caramel filling and a thin cookie layer. The outside of the cookie was the brownie part and it had more of a caramel glaze on top. Although it tasted like a regular brookie, the element of the caramel inside made it a lot better. All of the cookies seemed as though they were fresh out of the oven with their immense warmth. The next cookie I tried was the Cookies and Cream. There was an Oreo and cream inside this cookie, and there was a dense layer of cookie on the outside. Biting into the cookie was very soft and flavorful. It wasn’t super sweet, either.
The next two cookies I tried were a part of the rotating menu, Party Animal and Snickerdoodle. The Party Animal cookie had a hint of birthday cake and was topped with a frosted animal cracker. Although the presentation of this cookie was nice, the flavor needed to be improved. The cookie had too much vanilla frosting in the middle, which masked the cookie around it. This cookie was also very rich compared to the others. The final cookie I tried was Snickerdoodle. The cookie lived up to its name because the cookie tasted just like an actual snickerdoodle. The filling in the middle was not too sweet and paired well with the strong cinnamon flavor.
