Instagram Detroit: Best photo-ops downtown
Out of the 143 miles that Detroit covers, here are the most photogenic spots in the Motor City
Dequindre Cut Greenway
Lined with murals and graffiti, Dequindre Cut is a great place for an artsy photo shoot. The half-mile extension that runs from Gratiot Ave. to Mack Ave. was previously a Grand Trunk Railroad line. It is available to bikers, just in case you want to get an action shot.
The Z Lot
The Z Lot is another scenic area with lots of urban street art. Located at 1234 Library St., the 10-floor parking structure is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and covered in street art from the interior to the exterior. Not only can you park here, but you can also see and take pictures right in front of mind blowing artwork.
The Guardian Building
The stain glass windows and timeless architecture inside the Guardian Building guarantee a great photo. This 1920s skyscraper located in the Financial District used to be the home of the Union Guardian Trust Company, and is the definition of Art Deco.
Belle Isle Conservatory
For the nature-loving Instagrammer, the Belle Isle Conservatory is a great scenic space for photos. The conservatory includes an aquarium, the Palm House, the Cactus House, the Tropical House and the Fernery. With great natural lighting, the Belle Isle Conservatory is the place to be.
Detroit Riverwalk
Overlooking the Detroit River, the Detroit Riverwalk is a perfect photo-op on a sunny day. With multiple sculptures and gardens, the Riverwalk is a great spot to capture in the heart of downtown.
Kresge Court at the DIA
Kresge Court is Detroit’s new public living room. This vintage-style coffee shop inside the Detroit Institute of Arts has a great atmosphere and will give your photos the classic bookworm touch you’re looking for.
