Chicago born artist, Chance the Rapper, performed live at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Chance began his “Be Encouraged Tour” in September and will perform his last show of the tour at the end of October. This tour is dedicated to his release of his third mixtape, “Magnificent Coloring Book.”

I attended this concert and sat in the general admission floor area. My expectations for this concert were very high and I was overjoyed at how well the performance was. I could tell that both the artist and the audience were enjoying the concert as much as I was.

Chance played a combination of his old and new songs including “Favorite Song,” “Cocoa Butter Kisses,” “Same Drugs,” “Angels,” “Juke Jam” and many other fan favorites. His vocals were very strong. He sounded better live than he does on music platforms. One of my favorite parts was being able to sing along to all of his best songs.

Throughout the performance Chance kept the audience engaged. He was constantly talking to the audience and saying things such as “We made it” and “How are we doing tonight?” which I enjoyed.

The visual arts of the performance were very interesting as well. With every base drop came an explosion of fireworks on stage. All of the colors that were displayed behind Chance lit up the entire Palace.

Another one of my favorite parts of the performance was when a platform emerged from the ceiling for Chance to walk across. On top of listening this was a very fun performance to watch.  Halfway through the concert bubbles were dispersed onto the entire general admission floor which was the icing on the cake of the opticals.

My only complaint would be the performance length. He didn’t come on stage until around 10:15 p.m. and ended the show around 11:25 p.m. Although the performance was amazing. I would’ve enjoyed listening to him for more than an hour and ten minutes.

Chance the Rapper had by far is the best concert I’ve ever been to. His energy on the stage reflected onto the audience which electrified the entire experience. I wouldn’t have traded this event for the world and highly advise people to go to one of his shows.
