One year ago today, 20-year Tower Adviser Jeff Nardone fell victim to T-Cell Lymphoma at 48 years old.
During his tenure, The Tower won 19 Spartan Awards from the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA), exhibiting state-wide excellence. The Tower also won the Pacemaker Award in 2011 from the National Scholastic Press Association after having been a finalist for the award four times.
The JEA (Journalism Education Association) awarded Nardone a Lifetime Achievement Award this past fall. His sons, Kal and Cy Nardone, both ’18, and his brothers, Jim and John Nardone, will be accepting the award on his behalf in Washington, D.C. this week.
A bench was installed outside of the Tower room this morning in memory of Nardone’s impact on the newspaper and the school.
