“[It] was disappointing that we lost, but I mean we did what we could,” Fradenburg said. “We needed to focus and keep [our] heads in the game.”
Having had only one week of practice, the team is expected to face early-season missteps, but their unity and skill will continue to strengthen throughout the season.
“It was just a bad day,” Fradenburg said.
With an early lead taken by Romeo, the Blue Devils found themselves struggling to keep up. However, Reid Lenglet ’28 refused to back down, pushing himself to make an impact on the court.
“I was doing my best the whole game, even though we were down,” Lenglet said.
Down by only five points at the end of the first half (23-28), the Blue Devils were determined to make a comeback. They briefly took the lead in the third quarter but eventually lost momentum in the fourth, ultimately falling short of the win.
“It was the first [game], so it’s gonna be the hardest,” Lenglet said. “We need to focus more on defense and our ball of movement on offense.”
Despite the 36-46 loss, the Blue Devils are focused on growth through practice. Although the result wasn’t what they hoped for, the team remained optimistic about what was to come and stayed dedicated to striving for future victories, even against strong competitors like Romeo.
“I think they played well last night,” Lenglet said. “We were just off, but they were a good competitor.”
