The team, consisting of girls of all grade levels, had to fight to keep themselves going throughout the game, all players had a role. From assisting multiple rebounds to blocking passes from the other team, the defense had to keep their guards up against Anchor Bay.
“The toughest part of the game was catching up in points at halftime,” Captain Catherine Pattie ’25 said. “Especially having to come out with full energy.”
The beginning of the game was built on a lot of determination, as the Blue Devils had many things going against them. Anchor Bay had not only rowdy coaches, but rowdy players who did not stray away from getting physical. Keeping their mind on the ball and supporting each other is what brought their energy back in the second half, and the support they have within each other is apparent.
“My favorite part of my team is that we all get along and work so hard for each other,” Pattie said. “It is hard to find that anywhere else.”
The team, with a 4-4 record has more tough games like these ahead of them before the regional championships. If they continue to play tough like they did against Anchor Bay, they are sure to keep up the momentum.
“We all work hard to play hard,” Pattie said. “We have to build up off of each other in order to succeed, and that’s what we work to do.”
