In the wake of South Principal Moussa Hamka’s promotion to Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Assistant Principal Cindy Parravano will be temporarily filling his position, effective Jan. 6, 2025 through the remainder of the school year.
“After thoughtful discussions, Ms. Parravano has graciously accepted this significant leadership role,” Superintendent Dr. Andrea Tuttle announced in an email sent to South’s staff on Tuesday afternoon.
The GPPSS will issue a posting for an interim assistant principal to fill the vacancy left by Parravano as she moves up the chain of command. GPPSS will also seek a permanent replacement for Hamka.
“While Ms. Parravano will not participate in the initial interview process, she remains a strong candidate for the permanent position,” Tuttle said.
If a stronger candidate is identified, Parravano will return to her current role as assistant principal. Hamka will address the Class of 2025 at graduation and his signature will appear on diplomas.
“These actions reflect our commitment to maintaining effective leadership while ensuring a transparent, inclusive and thoughtful approach to leadership transitions at South High School,” Tuttle said.
